Currently Researching 〰️

My current research is into Bolivian folk dances and how they reveal a rich tapestry of cultural narratives that have evolved significantly throughout history. Each dance reflects the unique stories, traditions, and social contexts of various Bolivian communities. The adaptation of these dances over time can be attributed to factors such as colonial influences, urbanisation, and the globalisation of cultural expressions.

In the pre-colonial era, Indigenous communities performed dances connected to nature and spirituality, focusing on harvest, fertility, and ancestor veneration. In modern Bolivia, folk dances adapt to migration, urban life, and technology, thriving in new forms. They now flourish at cultural festivals, competitions, and community events, blending historical significance with contemporary relevance.

Using projection mapping and interactive installations can present folk dances and their narratives freshly. Projection mapping creates immersive environments reflecting Bolivia's diverse landscapes, while dance visuals with historical context offer insights into each performance's evolution and meaning. Interactive installations encourage participants to engage with the dances' stories, exploring origins, variations, and cultural significance. This method fosters deeper understanding and personal connections, prompting visitors to reflect on their experiences with dance and culture.
